National Trust

We are so fortunate to have a number of wonderful National Trust sites within walking or a short distance drive. From the dramatic drops and falls of Lydford Gorge to the vast abbey at Buckland there’s options for everyone.

CYCLING

With the NCN Route 27 passing through Lydford and an abundance of fantastic scenery to take in you’ll be spoilt for choice on two wheels. See our cycling page for further information and bike storage at the pub.

Animal Encounters

Take an alpaca on a trek, ride out onto the wilds of Dartmoor on horseback and visit a Komodo dragon in the swamps, just a normal day in Devon. With attractions and activities both close by and slightly further afield there’s plenty to do!

Gardens

Explore the abundance of local gardens from the grand Queen Mother’s Rose Garden at RHS Rosemoor to the National Collection of birch and alder trees at the woodland gardens of Stone Lane.

Dartmoor and Lydford itself are steeped in centuries of history and with many historic landmarks and places to visit within the local area you won’t be short of day trips.

WALKING

There are a great number of walks directly from the pub whether taking a stroll around our lovely village or heading out for a hike on Dartmoor. Lydford is also on many long distance walks in the region and so perfect for an overnight stop.
